Spetses

This is a popular tourist destination for Greek and foreign tourists. Spetses is the jewel of the Saronic Gulf. It took its name by the Venetians: Isola di Spezzie, meaning the “island of the fragrances”.

Spetses is famous for its picturesque villages and romantic atmosphere. It is a place full of neoclassical houses with colored doors and windows, small balconies and tiled roofs. You will be amazed by the beautiful bougainvillea decorating the narrow streets, the mansions with the tall palm trees in their gardens, the fragrances of flowers and the sounds of the horse-drawn wagons. Among the most favorite activities of the visitors are the romantic walks by the sea, a cup of coffee in Dapia overlooking the cannons that once protected the village, a walk in the old port and the square of Poseidon to see the statue of Bouboulina Laskarina and of course swimming in the crystal clear waters or relaxing in the shadow of the pine trees on the beach.
