Museum of Greek Folk Art

The main building on Kydathinaion street houses the administrative offices of the museum, the department of the educational programs, the library, the multimedia file, the multi-function room and the main exhibition halls. In the museum you can also visit the following:

  1. The Mosque of Monastiraki Square, which houses a pottery collection, donated by Professor B. Kyriazopoulos. [1 Areos Str., Monastiraki Square]
  2. “Bathhouse of the Winds", the only one of the Public Baths of Athens that you can see till nowadays. [Plaka, near the Roman Agora]
  3. The building of 22 Panos Str., which houses the collection of traditional craft tools, donated by the Company of Folklore Studies.

Ticket prices

  • General admission: 2 €
  • Reduced fare (Students of countries outside the EU, citizens of the EU, adults over the age of 65): 1 €

Free admission

  • Young people up until the age of 18 (with a show of ID).
  • Students of universities, technical universities or equivalent schools of EU countries with a show of their student ID.
  • Students of classical studies or the School of Fine Arts of countries outside the EU with a show of their student ID.
  • Soldiers serving their military service with a show of ID.
  • Members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
  • Tour guides with a show of their Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT) card.
  • Journalists with a show of their Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily (ΕΣΗΕΑ) card.
  • Free entry card holders

Free entrance days:

  1. Every first Sunday of the month from November 1st - March 31st
  2. All National Holidays.
  3. March 6th: In honor of Melina Merkouri.
  4. April 18th: International Monuments Day.
  5. May 18th: International Museums Day.
  6. June 5th: World Environment Day.
  7. Annually, the last weekend of September (European Heritage Days).
